The cultural foundations and the new policy of the city” will take place in Milan, during the XII edition of Urbanpromo, hosted from the 17th to the 20th of November at La Triennale di Milano, museum born to promote the excellence of Italian research.
The event Urbanpromo is promoted by Urbit Italian City Planning in order to efficiently give a contribution to the recovery of the Country, by promoting high profile projects and initiatives from the scientific and technical point of view, that stand out in those Italian cities symbol of innovation and development. Among its several research themes, one deals with the historic transition from “industrial city to creative city”, in which the Cultural Foundations act as protagonists: by promoting, supporting and realising projects meant to change not only the cities' territory but also their culture itself.

ROME PRESENTS ITSELF AS A CANDIDATE FOR UNESCO CREATIVE CITIES NETWORK
Rome's candidacy for UNESCO Creative Cities Network is the recognition of the strategic role played by the city's cultural and film industry for the life and identity of the capital” Dario Franceschini, Minister of Cultural Heritage.

“I support Rome's candidacy to join UNESCO Creative Cities Network”, this is what has been corfirmed by the honorable Silvia Costa, President of the Culture and Education Commission of the European Parliament, during the event “Rome candidate for UNESCO City of Film. Presentation, ideas and considerations”.
Piera Detassis, President of Fondazione Cinema per Roma, asserted that the initiative has been purposely organised during the opening of Rome Film Fest and MIA – International Audiovisual Market - in order to tangibly confirm Fondazione's involvement as the authority appointed to manage the potential designation by UNESCO.

Rome's candidacy as City of Film is well deserved”, says Lidia Ravera, Regional Minister for Culture Youth Policies of Lazio Region, that has allocated 35 milion euros for the film and audiovisual sector."

What does imply for a city to become part of UNESCO Network?
UNESCO's qualification is surely based upon the ability of the nominated City to make its added value available to the Creative Cities Network. As Giovanna Marinelli – Assessor for Culture and Sport of Roma Capitale – illustrated, the process of UNESCO Rome City of Film's bid book has been able to systematize the tangible and intangible heritage of the city in the cultural and creative sector, combining tradition and innovation in order to spread film culture by involving the stakeholders for the benefit of all audiences. Roberto Ciccutto, President and CEO of Istituto Luce Cinecittà, that has already received a UNESCO qualification in 2011 for its archival heritage, confirms that becoming a member of UNESCO Network implies a big responsibility. It means to roll up one's sleeves and work for a common goal, to join forces in a local network in order to turn creative excellences into infallible instruments of cultural and economic growth. For Luca Lo Bianco, coordinator of the governance process of public and private stakeholders for the Culture and Tourism Department of Roma Capitale, applying to become part of UNESCO Network meant preparing the ground for a strategic development plan, by creating initiatives able to draw from the brand UNESCO the necessary stimuli to overcome municipal and national boundaries and deal with the international network. And it's been the stimuli of all the participants, economists of culture on the national, European and international level, that animated the debate that has well highlighted the beneficial effects of a creative city on the economic, social and cultural capital of the territory.
