ROME CITY OF FILM

A delegation from Galway Creative City of Film visited the Capital City with university professors and students of the GMIT in two intense days of meetings and exchanges at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, as the first stage of a partnership to share knowledge and skills among teachers and future young professionals.

From 1st to 4th April, a delegation from Galway paid a visit to Rome as part of an exchange programme that features the two UNESCO Creative Cities of Film.
The partnership between Galway, that coordinates the cluster, and Rome was founded with the aim of sharing creative processes and skills among Italian and Irish professors and students – from production design, costume design and editing courses – and was born thanks to the Centre for Creative Arts & Media, at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology and Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
During the visit our Galway friends attended screenings and talks in the framework of the 10th edition of the Irish Film Festival, shared the presentation of urban creativity and film heritage promotion projects and visited a few key places in the Roman film industry such as Cinecittà Studios and Casa del Cinema.
In the latter location, the delegation and students met Piera Detassis, president of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma – implementing body of the UNESCO Rome City of Film project – with whom they discussed the audiovisual policy in the Capital City and the Rome Film Fest.
